Affordable warmth: Insulation deals

Being more energy efficient at home could help you sta warm this winter, and save you up to £265 a year on fuel bills.


Over 70 or on a benefit

If you own or rent your home from a private landlord you could get free cavity wall and loft insulation and, in some cases heating system improvements.

You must be over 70 or in receipt of certain benefits (disability living allowance, attendance allowance, tax credit, means tested benefit).

Health issues

Certain health issues could be made worse by living in a cold and damp home.

Oldham residents with certain illnesses can access free loft and cavity wall insulation.

If you suffer from one of the following illnesses, you could qualify:

Respiratory disease

·         Asthma

·         Bronchitis

·         COPD

·         Cystic fibrosis

·         Emphysema


Cardio vascular disease

·         Angina

·         Heart problems

·         High blood pressure

·         Stroke victims


Musculoskeletal disease

·         Arthritis

·         Damaged joints

·         Long term back pain


Mental health

·         Any mental health problems

The energy advisers will check your eligibility and arrange a free, no obligation survey.

You will be asked to confirm you have a health condition by replying to a letter you will receive and either self certifying (in which case this will be checked with a relevant health professional) or asking a relevant health professional to sign it for you.

Your home will then be fitted (hassle and mess free) with loft and cavity wall insulation, free of charge.
